Background

Situation Group launched a new agency during the pandemic — and needed a digital platform from scratch.

Town Hall Agency was founded in 2021 as Situation Group’s newest division — a full-service marketing and creative agency custom-built to serve nonprofits, higher education institutions, and mission-driven organizations. The agency was born during the pandemic, positioning itself as “built for this moment” with a mandate to combine the agility of a startup with the infrastructure of Situation Group’s 20-year operation. Town Hall needed a website that could establish credibility across three distinct verticals — nonprofit, education, and mission-driven corporate — while supporting the agency’s own thought leadership and business development efforts. The site also needed to house enlightenED, a webinar series produced in partnership with Google Education that would serve as Town Hall’s flagship content offering for higher education marketing professionals.

The platform needed to launch alongside the agency itself — establishing Town Hall’s digital presence from day one while being architecturally ready to grow as the client roster and service offerings expanded.


Implementation

Custom WordPress theme with a webinar interface, structured case studies, and service architecture spanning three verticals.

I led development on a custom WordPress theme built to support an agency launching with three distinct service verticals from day one. The content architecture separated nonprofit, education, and mission-driven corporate work into dedicated service sections — each with its own case study library, client showcases, and messaging framework — while sharing a unified navigation and design system across the site. The enlightenED interface was the most technically involved piece of the build. The webinar series — produced in partnership with Google Education — required a structured content system for managing sessions with dates, topics, speaker information, video embeds, and downloadable PDF takeaway documents. Each session needed its own landing experience with on-demand video playback, resource downloads, and contextual calls-to-action driving registration for upcoming sessions or newsletter signup for future content. Gravity Forms powered the lead capture and registration workflows across enlightenED and the agency’s contact pathways, with form routing logic that directed inquiries to the correct team based on service vertical and inquiry type. The case study system used structured content objects with client name, vertical, service tags, and rich media — surfaced through filterable views that let visitors browse Town Hall’s work by sector or capability.

The content architecture gave Town Hall’s team full editorial independence — publishing case studies, managing webinar sessions, updating service pages, and capturing leads all happen through the WordPress admin without developer involvement.


Results

A digital foundation that scaled from agency launch to 200+ programs and partnerships with Google, NYU, and Carnegie Mellon.

The site launched alongside Town Hall Agency’s founding in 2021 and has served as the agency’s primary digital platform ever since. The enlightenED webinar series — the build’s most complex deliverable — established Town Hall as a thought leader in higher education marketing, with sessions produced in partnership with Google Education covering enrollment strategy, campaign optimization, and advanced analytics for admissions teams. The platform has supported Town Hall’s growth from a new division into an agency with a client roster that includes NYU Tandon, Carnegie Mellon University, New York Law School, University of San Diego, the Anti-Defamation League, Smile Train, Meals on Wheels America, PBS, and WildAid. The enrollment marketing practice alone has scaled to support over 200 degree and non-degree programs through the site’s lead generation and content infrastructure.

The platform continues to serve an agency that has grown well beyond its startup phase — the same architecture built for launch day now supports a full-service operation spanning higher education, nonprofit, and mission-driven verticals.
